The pros and cons of each player.
the following stats are at Pac Bell. Split stats may not be relevant because good hitters with little success
(Helton comes to mind with his .268 .383 .444) will adjust, but they sure are fun to look at.

Beltran
#1 player in the market, 5 tool, fairest of them all, nuff said. Possible to get if we backload. Beware of Boras.

Ordonez
coming off injury, Boras isn't releasing medical reports, could be suspicious. But he'd have to pass any physicals
before signing. He has been the model of consistency

Drew
turnaround year in Atlanta, native of Georgia. From what I've read, he will want to stay local. I don't trust, Risky. Nice numbers at Pac Bell though.

11 36 8 12 3 0 3 11 3 11 .333 .385 .667 1.051

Hidalgo
cannon of an arm, led league in assits in 03, could find a home with our other Venezulean players and return to
BIG numbers, or is he done with? Mets don't want him, that's for sure, and if the Mets don't want him who else would?
G AB R H 2B 3B HR RBI BB K Avg OBP Slg OPS
12 41 3 11 5 0 1 4 4 9 .268 .319 .463 .783

Finley
old, in shape, but old, D is overrated, numbers are decent but for how long, he's 40

G AB R H 2B 3B HR RBI BB K Avg OBP Slg OPS
40 147 16 37 4 1 0 11 20 22 .252 .339 .293 .632

Dye
injury prone, from Vacaville, strong arm, might be scary to sign for long term deal, best at 1 year plus performance
incentives he could be worth it.

Alou
coaches kid that can produce. His D is very scary, especially considerning him in RF at Pac Bell. Pretty old as well.

Burnitz
can get on the cheap, but is he really any better than what we have. I really don't think so.

*Players ages are starting from spring training. Some players birthdays are during the season.
**Somewhat subjective. First I looked at only seasons with 150+ games played. Then I used the highest OPS to determine their best year.
